St Patrick's Day Events

Join us March 13 - 17 for our St. Patrick's Day festivities!

The Tybee Island Heritage Festival will be held on March 13th, and we will be joined by our guests from Nassau, Barabbas and the Tribe, for the celebration! They will be performing at The Crab Shack the following week, watch for details!

March 17th is the Savannah St. Patrick's Day Parade! Watch for The Crab Shack float and Barabbas and the Tribe!

See the New York Shields' Pipe and Drum Band perform at The Crab Shack on March 18th! The Emerald Society Pipes and Drums were formed in June, 1985 by 16 members of the Emerald Society and former members of the Irish Warpipe Band. This move was caused by a political climate that had taken hold of the WarPipe Band and had become unbearable to function under. The original focus of the band was music and camaraderie and not politics, a standard which is adhered to this day. Many of the members were first responders at ground zero on 9/11. This is your chance to meet and talk with them! Visit nyshieldspipeband.org for more history and photos!

More details and performance times to be announced!

The Husband Store

A store that sells husbands has just opened in New York City, where a
woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions

at the entrance is a description of how the store operates. You may visit
the store ONLY ONCE!

There are six floors and the attributes of the men increase as the shopper
ascends the flights. There is, however, a catch....... You

may choose any man from a particular floor, or you may choose to go up a
floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the

building!

> So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband.

> On the first floor the sign on the door reads:

> Floor 1 - These men have jobs and love the Lord.

> The second floor sign reads:

> Floor 2 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, and love kids.

> The third floor sign reads:

> Floor 3 - These men have 2 jobs, love the Lord, love kids, and are
extremely good looking.

> 'Wow,' she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.

> She goes to the fourth floor and sign reads:

> Floor 4 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are drop-dead
good looking and help with the housework.

> 'Oh, mercy me!' she exclaims, 'I can hardly stand it!'

> Still, she goes to the fifth floor and sign reads:

> Floor 5 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are drop-dead
gorgeous, help with the housework, and have a strong

romantic streak.

> She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor and the sign
reads:

> Floor 6 - You are visitor 4,363,012 to this floor. There are no men on
this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are

impossible to please. Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store. Watch
your step as you exit the building, and have a nice day!

Savannah Collage of art and Design (SCAD), I have been told, is the largest art school in the world. Its students and faculty has certainly anointed Savannah with a new flavor. My Dad

Smiling, handsome man who held me before I could walk
with strong hands that applauded just as I learned to talk
Who held my bike seat and ran along side me
His strides far wider than I could even see?
On July 3rd '78 he rode in a boat …
when time came he left with the tide
His smile was kind; his workday long… Continue

Tribute to a Friend

Three unique buildings, three distinct collections, bridging three centuries of art & architecture
The Telfair Museum of Art traces its history from 1886 when the Telfair family home opened to the public as an art museum and school. It now boasts three diverse sites -- the original building, the Telfair Academy of Arts and Sciences, a National Historic Landmark building; the Owens-Thomas House, also a National Historic Landmark; and the Jepson Center for the Arts, a contemporary building which houses 20th- and 21st-century art.

Designed by internationally acclaimed architect Moshe Safdie, the 64,000-sq. ft. Jepson Center for the Arts is a state-of-the-art museum facility. It features expanded gallery spaces, expanded educational resources, much-needed art storage facilities, sculpture gardens, an auditorium, café and museum store.

Over the years the Telfair has become an invaluable confluence of arts, culture and history that reaches out to its audience through a diverse schedule of exhibitions and programs. Among the city's most-visited attractions.
